FightStar Championship will make their way to the West Midlands with a trip to Birmingham scheduled for the summer. Taking place on June 17th fans of mixed martial arts in the area should earmark this date in their diaries.
FightStar is quickly becoming one of the best and most exciting places to watch combat sports in the UK regional scene. With some must-watch action and some of the sport’s brightest and future talents.
The last events the company held in the Midlands were their FSC5 and FSC7 shows in 2015. Both took place in Coventry. Taking place eight years ago the organisation will make sure they make things worth the wait when they touchdown in June.
FightStar Championship has had some notable UK talents fight in the Midlands in the past. Most prominently current UFC light heavyweight contender Paul Craig who fought on the FSC5. The Scotsman would go on to win the FSC Light Heavyweight Champion at the event via first-round submission.
FSC show lay host to both amateur and professional fighters allowing for a mix of MMA talents to showcase their ability. Their recent show took place on July 15th and boasted a loaded card with 22 bouts.
They’re making their mark on the scene with shows delivering big fights that produce the goods in the cage. Expect the card in Birmingham to be no different with fights to be announced nearer fight night.
We had the pleasure to grab a few words from FightStar promoter Raj Singh following the announcement:
“Our intention has always been to create a quality platform for Pro & Amateur fighters by simply not cutting any corners. We have a big production, the best medical team, the best officials (that also work for the UFC & IMMAF) and a hard-working team that tries their best to give every fighter we have that fights for us the exposure they deserve.
This is why we have a very good reputation. We’ve had many FSC champions, such as Javid Basharat, Paul Craig, Amir Albazi, Sam Patterson, Fabian Edwards, and Jake Hadley etc., go onto bigger platforms such as the UFC. So many names to mention. In each event we’ve put on, we consistently improve and grow.
We’re looking forward to coming to Birmingham. The Midlands is fast becoming the hotbed of UKMMA. We’ve had so many requests over the years to come back to the Midlands. Now is the right time. The vision is to continue expanding and to consistently be one of the best UK MMA promotions.”
