After the high-octane action of UFC 304, an unexpected incident unfolded involving Alexander Volkanovski, Michael ‘Venom’ Page, and Farid Basharat. Here’s a fresh look at the situation that unfolded post-fight.
UFC 304 was a night of intense drama. Tom Aspinall delivered a stunning knockout against Curtis Blaydes, defending his interim world title with a display of pure power. The event drew global attention, including that of former featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, who travelled from Australia to witness the spectacle first-hand.
Following the fight, Volkanovski retired to his hotel, eager to catch some rest. However, his plans were interrupted by an altercation in the hotel lobby. In a recent YouTube video, Volkanovski described the incident, revealing that he witnessed a heated confrontation between two men. While he kept their identities under wraps, his account provides a glimpse into the chaos that ensued.

According to Volkanovski, the altercation was intense, prompting him to step in. “I tried to grab one of them, but he slipped away,” Volkanovski explained. “He made a beeline for his target, and I was left trying to hold him back.”
A video shared by Casuals Corner appears to support Volkanovski’s account. The footage shows Michael ‘Venom’ Page and Farid Basharat in a heated exchange, with security personnel struggling to intervene. Basharat, using his agility, maneuvered around security, forcing Volkanovski to attempt a takedown. Despite Volkanovski’s best efforts, Basharat managed to evade him and escape.
The video highlights the chaos of the situation, with Basharat seemingly slipping past several security guards before finally being subdued. The UFC has yet to issue a statement or confirm the identities of those involved in the altercation.
Alexander Volkanovski Shares Some Light
In his video, Volkanovski addressed the situation with candor: “I wasn’t sure if I should even mention it,” he said. “I didn’t want to cause any issues or name anyone involved. But since you’re asking, I’ll share a bit.”
He continued, “There was a scuffle in the lobby between two individuals. One was definitely a fighter, but I’m not sure about the other. It looked like a punch was thrown, and things got heated. Security was all over it, but I tried to step in and diffuse the situation.”
Volkanovski added, “The guy I tried to hold onto was quite slippery. Despite my efforts, he managed to evade me and a few other security guards. It was quite a scene, with everyone scrambling to control the situation. I almost lost my balance as we tumbled down the stairs.”
In a light-hearted moment, Volkanovski noted, “If footage surfaces, you might see just how chaotic it was. If not, well, you won’t know who was involved. I decided it’s best to keep names out of it for now.”
Volkanovski’s honest recounting of the incident sheds light on the unexpected drama that followed UFC 304, reminding us that even after the fights end, the excitement doesn’t always stop.
