Former cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew has said he will ‘chin’ and face the punishment of prison should Jake Paul hurt Mike Tyson in their upcoming July 20th boxing bout.
Tony Bellew Claims He’d Go to Prison Should Jake Paul Hurt Mike Tyson
Not many saw the announcement of Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson without some level of surprise. With a 31-year age gap in favour of Paul (27) compared to Tyson (58). The bout has been lambasted the world over and has been continuously questioned from a sporting integrity point of view.
One former fighter who has a strong viewpoint on the bout is former cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew. The now 41-year-old from Liverpool had a very successful career spanning 34 fights. Establishing a record of 30-3-1, the ‘Bomber’ defied all expectations.
Since his retirement in 2018. Bellew has become a vocal figure in the world of boxing, from punditry, commentating and even a fan-favourite amongst the online boxing community.
Further cementing himself as one of the people. Bellew has taken a shot at public enemy number one Jake Paul. Claiming the following.
“Everyone has got a price. But if Jake Paul hurts Mike Tyson it would absolutely kill me. If he hurt Mike Tyson and I then run into Jake Paul, I’d chin him, quite happily. I would even spend a couple weeks in the big house for that.
“I’ll go to prison for Mike Tyson if Jake Paul hurts him!”

The bout is set to go down as a sanctioned boxing match and will count on both men’s records. Netflix and the Texan sanctioning body have both been called out for their roles in the fight going ahead with many questioning their integrity of the sport.
