Former UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski gave his thoughts on how he sees Bobby Green vs. Paddy Pimblett playing out.
Alexander Volkanovski Backs Bobby Green to Hand Pimblett Loss: “I Think He’s the Safer Bet”
In a recent Breakdown of UFC 304 on his YouTube channel, Alexander Volkanovski firmly backed veteran lightweight Bobby Green to handle business against Paddy Pimblett in enemy territory.
“I’m going to have to go with Bobby Green, I think he’s the safer bet here. It’s going to be a three-round fight. Paddy Pimblett, yeah I find it, it’s going to be hard for him to take him down and get a finish. Can he go and upset, you know, hometown crowd. I don’t think that’s going to faze Bobby Green.
“Again, Bobby Green’s going to put himself in positions where Paddy Pimblett’s going to feel he can fire and going to lull him into shots. I guarantee we’re going to see that pretty much straight away. I feel Bobby Green’s going to hit him, hurt him, maybe Paddy Pimblett would start trying to look for the shots straight after that. Does he get them? Or does he get hurt straight away? I’m not sure.”

Fight Preview
Although Pimblett may be able to find that takedown, Green has shown a capable ground game himself. Green’s slick striking has also caused problems for nearly every opponent he’s faced recently. What may make the biggest difference in the fight however is experience.
While Pimblett comes into the fight with 7 straight wins and a 5-0 UFC record, his 24 pro fights are just half of Green’s 48. While his 13-10 UFC record may be nothing to glamour at, Green provides Pimblett with his toughest career test and a spot at a ranking. With a ranking spot and lots of trash talk to back up, we’re sure to see both men at their best come Saturday night in Manchester.
