In a recent turn of events, former UFC fighter Mike Perry didn’t hold back his feelings toward his new boss, Conor McGregor, after being informed he was “fired” from Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC). Following Perry’s loss to Jake Paul in a crossover boxing match this past July, McGregor allegedly decided it was time for Perry to leave the promotion.
Perry took on the 199-pound Paul in Tampa, in a match that saw him dropped multiple times before being stopped in the sixth round. It was a high-profile fight for Perry, who has traditionally fought around 170 pounds, making the size difference significant. Despite the challenges, Perry accepted the bout to keep his title as the “King of Violence” on the line in front of a sold-out Amalie Arena.
Conor McGregor, CEO David Feldman, and Perry himself have each weighed in on the aftermath of this match. McGregor, watching closely, took to social media shortly after the fight, sharing his blunt verdict: “Hey Mike, you’re released,” McGregor wrote, directing his words to Perry. “And you can go and compete in your smelly dirty boxing championship thing, the smell of it, good luck. You’re fired.”
Former UFC Star Mike Perry Slams BKFC Boss Conor McGregor Amid Firing Rumours
While McGregor has continued to insist Perry is no longer a part of BKFC, CEO David Feldman seems to be keeping the door open, suggesting that Perry’s exit may not be final. According to Feldman, he believes Perry could return to the ring for BKFC, and discussions are reportedly ongoing.
McGregor, however, stood firm, telling The Schmo last month: “Mike [Perry] is fired, but we’re in negotiations. [Dave] ‘Redneck’ Mundell called him out. He’s been afraid of Mundell. We had to give him a little cherry-pick-made title, ‘The King of Violence’ or whatever you call it.”
“But he was never a world champion. And he’s afraid of Dave ‘Redneck’ Mundell,” McGregor continued. “He’s called him out now; let’s see what Perry responds.”
Perry’s response to all this was far from silent. In the upcoming documentary “Down & Dirty,” focusing on his involvement in Dirty Boxing, Perry speaks openly about his frustrations with Conor McGregor and his dissatisfaction with the way other fighters are reacting to the Irishman’s role at BKFC. He also took issue with fighters who seem eager to align themselves with McGregor in his new position as a promotion owner.
Perry Fires Back at Conor McGregor
“What’s making me mad is everybody sucking his balls,” Perry remarked. He believes a fight with McGregor would benefit everyone involved and questioned why the loyalty he’s shown to BKFC over his five fights isn’t being reciprocated.
In a bold statement, Perry reminded everyone of his contributions to the promotion, calling out fighters who he feels have shown more respect to McGregor than to him. “Like, he’s already fought for them. Hi, did y’all forget that I’m the reason y’all got pumped up right now?”
Reflecting on the treatment he’s received, Perry recalled a particular incident where another fighter disrespected him following a fight in Utah. “I fought five times for y’all, and y’all ain’t showing me no love,” he expressed. “The fighter in Utah who won, flicking me off in the ring. Okay, that’s the most viral thing you can do but b**** you lucky I didn’t get in that ring right now, I should have.”
Directing his frustration at fellow fighter Dave Mundell, Perry didn’t hold back: “Then Dave Mundell posted shaking Conor’s hand like, you sucking it bro. That’s why I knocked you out twice, you bum, yeah, you heard me.”
The release of the “Down & Dirty” documentary, premiering tomorrow on Dirty Boxing’s official YouTube page, promises a deeper look into Perry’s thoughts on his career, his ongoing dispute with McGregor, and the direction he sees himself taking in combat sports.
