Former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren “The Gorilla” Till goes off at Dana White over his treatment of Francis Ngannou in a fiery rant.
“The Predator” Francis Ngannou and the UFC parted ways in 2023 after his contract expired. Then a free agent the UFC and Francis failed to reach an agreement over a sufficient contract so “The Predator” joined rival MMA promotion PFL.
The PFL met Francis’s contract requirements allowing him to compete in professional boxing and electing Ngannou as chairman of PFL Africa. After going 0-2 in the boxing ring against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, Francis returned to the octagon.
Last week on October 19th Francis Ngannou made his PFL debut when he fought Heavyweight champion Renan Ferreira. Ngannou returned to the win column dominating Ferreira to a first-round knockout finish after some heavy ground and pound.
Following the victory Francis stated that the UFC has lost out by letting him go and accused them of owing him money. When asked to respond to the allegations at the UFC 308 post-fight press conference Dana disputed Ngannou’s claims.
Dana went on to state that “Francis is not a good guy” and that the UFC and Francis would never do business together again. He also stated that the UFC offered Francis a fight with Jon Jones but Ngannou turned down the fight.
These comments triggered an explosive rant from former UFC Welterweight and Middleweight Darren Till.
Former UFC Star “P*Ssed Off” at Dana White: “We Don’t Care That You Don’t Like Francis”
Former Welterweight title challenger and Middleweight star Darren “The Gorilla” Till made an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show. Despite not competing in the UFC since 2022 against Dricus Du Plessis, Till’s outspoken disposition and insistence on returning to the UFC one day, keeps him relevant.
In his latest interview with Ariel Helwani Till got fired up when talking about the UFC. He stated:
“As much as I love Dana White, there’s one thing that just p***ed me off―just make the f***ing fight with Francis Ngannou [and Jon Jones]. We don’t care that you don’t like Francis and Francis doesn’t like you. Guess what? Wow, we don’t care. No one is a***d.”
Despite stating he “love’s” Dana White, he appeared frustrated with the boss’s treatment of Francis Ngannou. He pushed the UFC to resign former champion Ngannoou.
Saying:
“Let’s just watch Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall, Francis Ngannou vs Jon Jones and let them all fight and we’ll say, ‘Right, he’s the best right now’. We don’t care that, ‘Ooh, he said something mean to me once’. We’re not a***d, who cares? I don’t care; why do you care? UFC has always been the best because they make the best fights.”
Visibly frustrated, Till shares the same view of many MMA fans and media that the UFC and Ngannou should settle their differences. Though unlikely to re-sign Francis, Dana did state in the aforementioned press conference that interim Heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall, would be next in line to fight Jon Jones.
Despite shutting the door on Francis, the news that Aspinall will get the chance to unify his interim belt against Heavyweight champion Jon Jones will excite.
