Francis Ngannou sees the fight between Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic as a 50/50.
“The Predator” Francis Ngannou gave his thoughts about the next UFC heavyweight championship. He gives each fighter a 50 percent chance of winning the fight. Jon Jones (27-1) will defend his heavyweight belt when he faces Stipe Miocic (20-4) at UFC 295 in Madison Square Garden.
“I put 50-50 on that fight,” Ngannou said during Tuesday’s open workout media scrum in Las Vegas “[…] I fought Stipe twice, and I know Stipe is pretty good. [Stipe] doesn’t look like it, but I know how tough he is, I know how good he is. I know very well.”
Having faced Stipe twice, Francis Ngannou lost a convincing decision back in in 2018. He got his revenge with a vicious knockout to gain the heavyweight belt in March 2021. Ngannou understands first hand that Miocic is no slouch. After knocking out Stipe, Francis went on to defend his belt against former training partner, Cyril Gane. Since, the UFC and Ngannou couldn’t agree on a contract, they moved on from one another and Ngannou signed with the PFL.
Francis Ngannou Upcoming Challenge
Jon Jones submitted Cyril Gane to capture the heavyweight title and becoming a two division champion. With Ngannou now in the PFL, a fight with Jones seems unlikely.
“I don’t feel like I need, I feel like I want,” Ngannou said on fighting Jones. “I want – it’s not a need.”
Francis Ngannou has his eyes set on another challenge. He will begin his professional boxing career facing Tyson Fury, the WBC champion. The bout will be a non title 10 rounder on October 28th at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
