Francis Ngannou, a former UFC champion, will be making his boxing debut against Tyson Fury on Oct 28 in a crossover fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Ngannou, nicknamed ‘The Predator ‘, has the odds against him against boxing current WBC champion and future boxing Hall of Fame Tyson Fury.
Fury would like to make light work of Ngannou by winning injury-free to fully focus on his already scheduled undisputed fight against current WBO, WBA, and IBF Champion Oleksandr Usyk lined up in Saudi Arabia on Dec 23, but ‘The Gypsy King’ stated that he’s not underestimating Francis.
Fury is contracted to have a rematch with Ngannou if he should lose. He must avoid defeat at all costs in order not to jeopardize the Usyk fight.
Ngannou is a heavy puncher, he has ridiculous power in his punch, and he has been in training camp with legendary Iron Mike Tyson. Ngannou must be relishing his punching power to pull an upset against Fury.
Ngannou holds the hardest power punch in the world, even though he has been refuted by Deontay Wilder trainer Scot Malik. Malik says Ngannou is not bigger than Wilder.
If Ngannou, A KO artist, shocks the boxing world by defeating Fury and he has to face Fury again in a rematch, that is their fight contract if Fury should lose. Ngannou is looking beyond Fury fight. The former UFC kingpin wants to take on Fury’s countryman Anthony Joshua.
Francis Ngannou Anthony Joshua Fight?
“I think we’re going to run it back for sure first, then maybe see Anthony Joshua,” Ngannou told Sky Sports. “Possibly, I can’t tell, but I’m very excited by (fighting at Wembley). I was in Wembley Stadium when Fury fought Dillian Whyte. The vibe there was quite electric was quite exciting. I think I’d like to have that dynamic.”
Ngannou is coming to the Fury bout after being inactive for over a year, which many believe will affect him negatively. He’s signed to the Professional Fighters League after his UFC departure, but he has made his debut.
Anthony Joshua has reiterated his desire to join the likes of Mohammed Ali and Evander Holyfield to become a three-time heavyweight champion. AJ fighting Ngannou seems unlikely, considering Ngannou is not a ranked boxing fighter. AJ is close to sealing a deal with Wilder for a mega bout in Saudi Arabia to settle their long-time rivalry, but things have gone cold in recent days.
AJ said recently that Mahammadrasul Majidov gave him the most painful punch of his boxing career. If Ngannou’s fight can materialize in the future, maybe The predator can unseat Mahammadrasul Majidov in Joshua’s head by giving him the most painful punch of his career.
Fury vs. Joshua?
Fury has no interest in fighting Anthony Joshua when quizzed by IFL TV;
“That bird has flown because he is out in the cold, frozen, and that’s it. [Joshua and Wilder] are not relevant to me and I shouldn’t be relevant to them at all.
“They don’t mean anything to me, they’re finished. They are out in the cold. I laugh the loudest now, it is what it is.”
Anything can happen in the future. We can never say never. Joshua vs Ngannou or Joshua vs Fury in a British Heavyweight clash. Both fights will be intriguing to the boxing world.
