MMA fans are thrilled to see Francis Ngannou and Israel Adesanya reunite once again.
A few years back, the two were part of an African powerhouse trio, alongside Kamaru Usman, that dominated the UFC.
Since then, Adesanya and ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ have both lost their UFC titles. This is while Ngannou vacated his title in favour of pursuing lucrative boxing matches against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
Recently, Ngannou claimed the PFL Super Fights Heavyweight championship after knocking out Renan Ferreira. However, despite now being with the UFC’s biggest competitor, ‘The Predator’ has shown his unwavering support for Adesanya ahead of his upcoming comeback fight.
Ngannou Shows Support for Adesanya Ahead of UFC Saudi Arabia Fight
Adesanya is set to bounce back from two straight losses when he faces Nassourdine Imavov at UFC Saudi Arabia this Saturday night.
The rising star stands between ‘The Last Stylebender’ and another shot at the middleweight title, which will be up for grabs when Dricus du Plessis and Sean Strickland rematch at UFC 312 next weekend.
Francis Ngannou has made the trip to the Middle East to show his support for his former UFC teammate and long time friend.
On Wednesday, the former UFC heavyweight champion posted several pictures with Adesanya, along with a caption that expressed his confidence in his friend’s upcoming fight.
“Just 2 days before the battle for my brother, but he’s stress-free and in high spirits; he even looks younger! #wankandaforever,” Ngannou wrote, as his comment section was flooded with fans reacting to the heartwarming reunion.
Ngannou Set to Pursue Both MMA and Boxing in 2025
Francis Ngannou is in an enviable position right now, receiving big-money offers in two different sports.
Despite his 0-2 record in boxing, it looks like his next fight could still take place in the squared circle. PFL president Donn Davis talked about this recently when he said;
“If I had to guess, I would think boxing would be first given the opportunities he has,”
“I don’t want to say too much—that’s his business to announce—but he has incredible boxing opportunities.”
“So, I think boxing is more likely to come first, and MMA will probably follow. What I believe fans will see from Francis this year is one MMA fight in PFL and one boxing match. So, I think his supporters will get to see him compete in both sports this year.”
Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has expressed interest in facing Ngannou in the ring. However, only time will tell who the Cameroonian knockout artist will end up fighting as he seeks his first professional boxing win.
