We often see fighters coming out of retirement in MMA. There is something special about an icon returning to the octagon after time away. Head Coach Frias Zahabi, from Tristar, said if Alex Pereira wins the heavyweight title. It could lead to Daniel Cormier making a comeback.
Frias Zahabi On Alex Pereira
Pereira won the UFC light heavyweight championship, at UFC 295. The Brazilian knocked out Jiri Procházka in Madison Square Garden. He became a two-division champion. Pereira, a beast of a human being, makes people wonder if he’ll compete at heavyweight. Zahabi thinks Cormier should end his retirement if Pereira wins the heavyweight title.
“If Jon Jones were in the picture, it would be over quickly. Zahabi said Pereira’s best day only for-one-and-a-half rounds, at most two rounds. “If Pereira wins the fight, Cormier’s got to step in, win the title, retire again. That’s what I would do.”

Could Daniel Cormier Return?
It doesn’t look like Cormier would be coming out of retirement because he was pretty old when he hung up his gloves. It has been many years since the former champion competed in the UFC, and it is hard to see him making a return. The most likely outcome is that Pereira stays at 205 and defends his belt for a while. It is also important to note that there is a big jump between light heavyweight and heavyweight. It is considering that Pereira had made the move from 185. By the time the Brazilian jumped to heavyweight, Cormier would have been out of the octagon for a long time.
Pereira is a great fighter, and seeing what he does next will be interesting. He will hope to further his legacy in the sport by racking up many defences of the championship. It will be exciting to see how far Pereira can go with the belt.
