Geoff Neal is a fantastic fighter and amongst the best in the welterweight division today. He was supposed to fight the rising Irish star Ian Gary, but he had to pull out of the fight and be replaced by Neil Magny. Neal seems to be ready to return to action after the injury. Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA, Neal talked about returning to the Octagon.
Geoff Neal On Return
As previously stated, Neal is an extraordinary fighter with excellent skills that help him put on quality performances inside the Octagon. The American competitor has a professional record of 15-5 with 11 knockouts. He was building momentum before the Garry fight, coming off a loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov. Neal raised his stock massively due to his outstanding performance. He will look to return to winning ways when he comes back, and it will be exciting to see him compete again. In his interview, Neal talked about his return.
“I’m back in the gym full-time. Health-wise, everything’s good. It was just something I needed to address,” Neal said. “It sucks that it happened before that fight because I wanted that fight. I wanna run it back, but Ian Garry’s not interested.”
Who Could He Face
There are many top names in the welterweight division for Neal to take on, and in the interview, he states what he would like to do next.
“I wanna fight this year. I want to fight in December. That’s when I know I’ll be ready to go,” Neal said. “But I don’t know if there’s any cards I can fit in on, ’cause I feel like there’s a card on December 16 stacked up. So, it’s going to be hard for me to get in. I don’t want to fight on that card and be on the prelims.
“I want the Gilbert (Burns) fight. The Gilbert fight, maybe then I’d look at the winner of (Sean) Brady and (Kelvin) Gastelum, and then the last choice is going to be Jack (Della Maddalena),” Neal continued. “Either three of those routes is cool with me. But I wanna see what’s up with Gilbert first.”
