As the team at British Fighting Championship gears up for its fifth installment, one fighter, in particular, is eagerly preparing to step back into the cage.
George West, coming off a triumphant debut in the promotion, is set to face off against Kelvin Allan in what promises to be an intriguing matchup. Ahead of the event, I caught up with George to get his thoughts on his upcoming bout and his aspirations for the future.
Reflecting on his previous outing at BFC, George expressed satisfaction with his victory but acknowledged room for improvement: “I really enjoyed my last experience at BFC. It was a great event, and I was happy to get the win up a weight class,” he remarked: “However, I felt I underperformed. I have a much wider array of skills, which I look forward to showing at BFC 5.”
George West Talks British Fighting Championship Battle
When asked about his upcoming opponent, Kelvin Allan, George displayed a balanced mindset: “I was happy to be offered an opponent like Kelvin. He’s a good fighter, comes from a quality gym, and has a winning record,” George said: “However, I don’t look too deeply at my opponents in preparation for fights. I focus on what I can control, and that is sharpening my skill set, day in, day out.”
Regarding the potential outcome of the fight, George exuded confidence in his ability to secure a finish: “When I fight, the judges are never needed, that’s my goal,” he stated emphatically. “I push myself in training so I can chase the finish deep into the fight.”
Looking ahead, George outlined his ambitions for the year, aiming to make waves in the amateur circuit: “This year, I’m looking to make a big splash within the amateur circuit. A win at BFC 5 is another step on the path towards the title,” he explained: “With that in mind, I’ve got a game opponent in front of me who I’m not looking past until my hand is raised on 13th April.”
As George West prepares to step into the cage once again, his determination and focus are evident. With his sights set on victory, he remains poised to leave his mark on the BFC stage.
