In a few weeks, the cage will welcome back Georgi Stefanov for his first bout of 2024. As he gears up for Almighty FC 35 on March 30 in Deeside, Wales, Stefanov exudes confidence both physically and mentally.
Stefanov will make the walk and gain the opportunity to leave Wales with the interim featherweight title when he stands toe-to-toe with Charlie Balmer.
“I feel really good, mate. Fast, sharp, strong, and ready to go,” Stefanov remarks when asked about his current state.
Reflecting on his victorious return to action at the end of 2023, Stefanov shares, “It felt amazing. I knew the skills were always there, and what I needed was a change of mindset, as we had spoken before my last fight.”
Georgi Stefanov on Fighting for Almighty Gold
Now, he’s set to compete for the promotion’s interim featherweight title, a prospect that holds significance not just for himself, but for his gym as well.
“It means a lot. Not that much for me but to bring a belt back to the gym will be great as I owe everything to those guys,” Stefanov explains. “We were trying to get me matched before the 30th of March but we were struggling to find an opponent. That was when Ray messaged my coach Shay Walsh with the opportunity for the interim title. This is going to be my 4th fight in the Almighty cage and the title was gonna come sooner or later.”
When asked about the added motivation with a title on the line, Stefanov emphasizes his consistent approach to training.
“I always train really hard, title or not, and I am always ready to go 3 -5- 10 rounds if needed. I’m extremely motivated for this one!” he states.
Talking Fight With Charlie Balmer
Discussing his upcoming opponent, Charlie Balmer, Stefanov acknowledges Balmer’s experience but asserts his confidence.
“Charlie seems like a very well-rounded fighter. Obviously, he got 10 fights of experience behind him. With that being said, I believe I am just that little bit better everywhere.”
For Stefanov, victory in Deeside isn’t just about personal achievement—it’s about showcasing the evolution of his skills and representing his team.
“It would mean the world to me to bring that belt to Shay Walsh MMA! If the fans thought Georgi Yerosalimov 2.0 was good, wait till they see the 3.0 update!” he concludes.
