Interview With Georgia Hackland
Your debut year is in the books, and a great debut year it was going (2-0). In reflection, how would you assess last year in terms of competition?
I think the year went really well. I’ve won every competition I’ve done and made improvements after every one of them, so I’m happy with how I’m progressing.
Now having gone through the process of preparing for a fight, training, dieting, cutting weight and finally making the walk. Did anything surprise you about the whole process, or was it everything you expected?
The process was what I expected. I got a nutritionist, Paula Wardzinka, so just sticking to her plan throughout camp made it a lot easier.
From the time you first stepped on the mat as a complete novice up until your most recent win. How rewarding is it to see improvements since then?
It’s super rewarding to see just how training consistently has improved every aspect of my training. It’s also motivating to keep training to consistently get improvements.
Georgia Hackland Talks Improvements
On improvements, you’ve had six or so months to keep getting better and improving your skill set. Where have you made the most notable gains in your game do you feel?
I have worked on every aspect and have made improvements in them all. I haven’t focused on one specific area.
Saturday night, it’ll be a Scotland vs. Scotland matchup against Caroline Plumley. What do you know about her, and what are your overall feelings on the fight?
I don’t really know much about Caroline other than she is tough and competes a lot. I leave watching her to Brian, so I can focus on my own training. I think it will be a good fight, I’m looking forward to it.
When I spoke to Caroline, she said she wanted to just go in there and have some f**king fun. Assuming you agree, what can we expect to see from this fight that opens up a fun card on Saturday in Barnsley?
You can expect to see an improved version of myself in there on Saturday.
A win at the weekend puts you to (3-0). What does the remainder of the year look like for you?
I would like to get another 2 MMA fights in this year, along with an amateur Thai fight with elbows and another grappling competition.
Any last words for Caroline before you step in there or anyone you’d like to thank?
I would like to thank Brian, Weronika and the rest of the team for all the work and training they do to help me, also all the girls that have helped train with me throughout camp.
