Georgia Hackland is excited to showcase her improvements at Almighty Fighting Championship 28.
The Scottish Hit Squad fighter aims to build on the momentum she attained in her amateur debut at Rise and Conquer 10. Hackland’s debut got off to a flying start when bagging a unanimous decision victory over Roxanne Lewin.
On the 26th of November, Hackland will clash with Melissa Bailey, who possesses a mirrored record of herself of 1-0. We had the opportunity to speak with Georgia Hackland before she makes the walk in the Barnsley Metrodome, England.
Interview With Georgia Hackland
You are back to work after 6-months since making your amateur debut. How have things been inside and outside the gym since we last spoke?
Things have been good. I’ve helped a lot of the girls from Ayrshire hit squad and TFT with their camps for their fights.
Touching on that experience of defeating Roxanne Lewin on your debut. Talk us through the emotions in the lead-up, during, and post-fight after you attained your first win inside the cage.
I was feeling good before the fight and during it. Just listening to my corner. I was absolutely over the moon after it.
Women’s mixed martial arts is thriving in the UK, with girls having the confidence to step foot in gyms and try it out. What one piece of advice would you give a young woman looking to get started but are apprehensive?
I would tell any woman to just go for it and to try and not let any nerves or worries stop them from doing it, and to just enjoy it!
How pleased were you with your performance overall on the night? Anything you feel you did extremely well, or perhaps you didn’t do as well as you’d like?
I was really happy with my performance as I feel I didn’t really make a lot of mistakes.
Melissa Bailey is the girl in front of you in two weeks. Have you had the chance to watch her debut just a few months ago? If so, what are your overall thoughts on her skill set from what you saw?
I don’t watch anything about my opponents. I let my coach do that.
Where can people expect to see your biggest improvements since your debut?
I feel that I have improved in all areas. My whole MMA game is better than my last fight. I’m looking forward to challenging myself.
A win at Almighty FC 28 puts you in a good place in 2022. What can we expect from Georgia Hackland in 2023?
I want to be as active as possible next year, getting in as many fights as I can.
