Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis revealed this week he is taking a ‘tune up’ fight against an opponent still not decided. This will go down January 7th and will get him ready to fight Ryan Garcia in April 2023.
Due to both fighters being under different matchmakers DAZN and Showtime have decided to do a joint PPV. Without this happening it’s unlikely we ever see Gervonta Davis fight Ryan Garcia. The fight will take place in Las Vegas in April 2023 and will surely pull fans in to watch this exciting matchup.
Hardcore and Casual fans will be attracted to this fight due to the star power of both fighters. Many believe this fight will be competitive while some think it’s a complete mismatch.
The Bout
Gervonta Davis currently holds a record of 27-0 with 25 KOs. He has won belts in three different weight divisions and had spectacular knockouts. Also has proven himself to be one of the top boxers in the world at his weight. He has extreme punching power and speed which results in deadly KOs.
Ryan Garcia on the other hand sports a record of 23-0 with 19 KOs. Garcia is known for his lightning-fast hand speed and also being extremely popular on social media. Fans have come out and said this fight is a possible mismatch since Garcia has not yet proven himself against the elite of the division. Ryan’s best wins of his career are against old vets such as Javier Fortuna and Luke Campbell. The rest of his fights have been relatively easy for him.
‘Tank’ has been tried and tested and proven himself to be elite. It will be interesting to see how he handles this fight against Ryan.
What Happens After?
Whoever wins this fight in April will be set for big things and pushed to fight for more belts against the toughest of the division. Some names of fighters that people would like to see Gervonta and possibly Ryan fight down the line are: Vasyl Lomachenko, Teofimo Lopez, and Shakur Stevenson.
