Scotland is about to welcome its largest combat sports and commercial gym, situated at Rosyth Dockyard. This expansive facility will cater to a variety of disciplines including MMA, Boxing, and Jiu Jitsu, alongside offering conveniences like an on-site fitness café and takeaway.
Goliath Gym represents the next evolution for Goliath MMA, extending their reach from Cowdenbeath and Kelty. Owner and head coach Steven Harris expressed excitement about the expansion, citing the overwhelming demand for MMA classes. He humorously remarked, “Our MMA classes were absolutely rammed. It got to the point where people were rolling their ankles because they were standing on each other’s toes.”
Goliath MMA Announce Expansion
The decision to move to Rosyth was prompted by a timely opportunity presented through a friend in the property investment sector. Steven seized the chance, recognizing Rosyth’s accessibility and appeal to combat sports enthusiasts from diverse locations. He emphasized, “MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world. We have guys travelling from all over, so Rosyth is a perfect location.”
However, this journey to expansion wasn’t devoid of challenges. Steven highlighted the grit and determination behind Goliath’s growth, stating, “We’re a family-run business. There are no big money men behind us. We’ve built this with blood, sweat and tears.”
Goliath Gym distinguishes itself not only as a combat sports hub but also as a tight-knit community. Steven emphasized the personalized approach to membership, where individuals are either known or referred. He also underscored the top-notch coaching staff, featuring names like UFC fighter Chris Duncan and Cage Warriors‘ Scott Malone, ensuring members receive elite training.
Beyond combat training, Goliath offers additional amenities such as a sauna, steam room, and a well-equipped recovery area featuring a cold plunge and jacuzzi.
With plans underway for the gym’s setup in Rosyth, Steven is optimistic about a smooth transition. However, he acknowledges the intricacies involved, stating, “We’re reliant on manpower so there’s a lot of variables that could go wrong, but fingers crossed.”
