Pick of the Night:
Grapplefest 13 is going to be massive. They are still adding matches to the roster. Combat Sports UK was at Grapplefest 12, and we can tell you now – IT IS INCREDIBLE TO WATCH! All of these will be incredible, but for us, 4 that stand out. The ones to watch are: Owen Livesey vs Jack Grant – Sula-Mae Loewenthal vs Nadine Tavares, Rosa Walsh vs Sarah Greenwood and Mike Grundy vs Saul Rogers are my ‘if you are going to watch any of them…make sure you watch these!’ ones.
Owen Livesey vs Jack Grant
Owen has had an absolute blinder over the last couple of years. He came to our attention about a year ago, and there’s something about Owen that makes you want to watch. He uses a mixture of judo and catch wrestling to take down his opponents, and his videos are a no-nonsense, straightforward, back-to-basics kind of style. His previous match on Grapplefest 12 was easily the most exciting – the atmosphere and crowd went nuts!
Jack Grant is an absolute beast of a man, who I’ve been watching ever since he fought Alexei Roberts back in the BAMMA Days. He has been around the block, and his record is 18 wins and seven losses in his MMA career. He is peeled all year round and also, whenever we’ve had the opportunity to talk, always smiling. Jack is a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu black belt and won his previous match on Grapplefest 12.
This match will be good.
Sula-Mae vs Nadine
This one I’ve chosen purely from watching Sula-Mae vs Rosa on Grapplefest 12. Sula-Mae showed real heart, demonstrated how flexible her arms are and watching her fight Rosa was encaptivating.
Rosa Walsh vs Sarah Greenwood
For the same reason I picked Sula-Mae, I can’t tell you how good, at Grapplefest 12, the match between Rosa and Sula – Mae actually was. If that fight was the benchmark for these two amazing athletes, then this should be great.
Mike Grundy vs Saul Rogers.
Mike was a commonwealth medallist and had been preparing for years with his training partner, Darren Till, on the UFC roster. His wrestling is insane. Mike is another beast who has been using his grappling abilities to his full advantage, as 8 of his last 12 MMA wins have been by submission.
Saul ‘The Hangman’ Rogers is a Bellator veteran and won 9 of his 15 bouts via submission. Notable wins are against the likes of Artem Lobov and Ryan Hall.
This one will be an exciting, explosive match to watch!
We will bring you the up-to-date Grapplefest 13 card as and when it changes and interviews very soon, but to say we’re excited about this is a massive understatement!
