Interview With Gregor Fell
Gregor, you’re all set to return to the cage on August 5 at Unity FC. How’s the health and overall mindset as we close in on fight week?
I feel great. This has been a long time coming, and I’m looking forward to getting in the cage and representing my team again.
It’s been some time since we’ve seen you. Please briefly tell the audience why we haven’t seen you in so long and what’s been going on since your last fight on Almighty.
I got a cut on my face, which wrote off the end of 2022, and then I decided to focus more on my academic commitments at the beginning of this year due to it being the last semester of my degree. Regardless of the lack of competition, I have been training consistently and have made improvements which I am excited to showcase at Unity. My last fight was a big disappointment to me, I’m ten times better than what I showed on that night, and that performance really bugs me. At Unity, I’m going to prove the level at which I am at.
Gregor Fell on 135lbs Debut
August 5 will mark your 135lbs debut. Can you just talk about that briefly, what prompted you to move up, and how better you think you’ll feel and perform with the extra weight?
Retrospectively I regret competing at flyweight. I’m 6″ 1, so at flyweight, I was weak, frail, and constantly under-fuelled when training. That took a lot of the fun out of competing for me and negatively impacted the quality of my training in general. As a result of moving up to bantamweight, I am far stronger and can adequately fuel myself for the demands of training. I think that these improvements will be reflected in my performance on fight night.
What can those Unity FC fans expect to see from a new, recharged and refreshed Gregor Fell in his new division come fight night? Give them a slight tease about why they should tune in!
I’m a completely different fighter from what I was when I last fought. I’m well-versed in every area of mma, and I look forward to testing my resolve in the cage. I’ve got a point to prove to myself after my last fight.
Joe Prior
You meet Joe Prior on the night. What do you know about him, and how do you feel you match up against one another?
He’s had four fights and is a game fighter, so I have to give him credit. Despite that, I think that I’m better than him in every department, and I know what I need to do to get win. My record doesn’t do me justice, and I am looking forward to proving the level at which I am at.
Finally, you know we love an official fight prediction here. Can you give us a hint on what you expect from Joe and how you expect to get it done in Darlington?
I expect to get the job done clinically and leave with the win.
