Fights to Watch
Every fight on this card is worth your time. Providing a quality balance of new amateurs, and experienced ones, as well as a couple of pro bouts. But for those of you who are unfamiliar, here are just a few bouts to earmark for this event.
Melissa Dixon vs Mafalda Carmona
The main event of the show will see two women compete against one another. One of whom will be Melissa Dixon. Turning pro in June of last year, Melissa has gone 2-0 since making the switch from the amateur scene. Not only winning her first couple of fights she has finished in them as well. These two fights both ended in the first and saw Dixon get her hand raised by way of KO/TKO.
Looking to extend her winning and finishing streak will be tough though. Especially as her opponent on the night will be Mafalda Carmona. 3-1, the Portuguese fighter is coming off her first career loss, which comes after an incredible career start. Making it to 3-0 with three finishes shows what Carmona is all about. Making her first appearance of the year, a rejuvenated Mafalda might just find that form that saw her go unbeaten through her first three.
Two women who can finish the fight, this bantamweight showdown will be must-watch MMA. Headlining the card for good reason, make sure you’re watching when the cage door shuts behind these two.
Chris Radcliffe vs Mikey Tranter
Next up on our watchful eye will be an amateur Welterweight clash with gold up for grabs. Firstly we have Chris Radcliffe. 4-2, His two losses came in his first two bouts. Since his double setback, he has gone on to win four in a row, with all four being stoppage victories. Three via KO/TKO and an impressive submission last time out. He carries his finishing ability throughout the fight with two wins in the first round and another two in the third.
Secondly, his opponent on the night will be Mikey Trainer. Mikey comes into this bout with an unblemished 3-0 record and has also finished all of his wins. The last two victories have been KO/TKO’s. Making his second walk to the GTFP cage this year, Tranter will hope it goes as well as his first.
Another fight where both fighters are finishers, don’t blink when this Welterweight scrap is going down. Two men who have abilities in all faucets, the matchmakers have outdone themselves with this one.
Bertie Oaks vs Sam Hill
Finally, we will take a look at another amateur title fight, this time at Middleweight. The current champion will be taking on a slightly unknown quantity when 1-0 Sam Hill steps into the cage. Making his debut earlier this year in April, Sam’s second bout will be for gold. Winning his first via unanimous decision he showed enough quality to gain himself a shot at the belt and will be doing everything he can to walk out with it.
His opponent will be the current champion, Bertie Oakes. At 3-0, Bertie earned his belt with a string of impressive performances. Earning gold last time out via unanimous decision at GTFP 18 in March. His first two fights saw him get the win without the judges with a pair of TKO victories. Looking for his first defence, expect to see the best version of Oakes yet.
Both men will be looking to remain undefeated, and walk away with the belt, this fight should be an absolute cracker so expect nothing less.
What are you most looking forward to at GTFP 19?
