GTFP 19 is shaping up to be one of the best domestic MMA events the UK has seen in quite some time. With the first female main event in the UK in recent memory, Wolverhampton was sure to be rocking come June. Now, the roof may just come off the place.
Deaf MMA sensation Thomas Paull returns to the GTFP cage for the fight of his career. His opponent? Ultimate Fighter Brazil alumn and former Brave CF combatant Erick da Silva will be making his 30th professional walk.
Their Career History
Although Erick da Silva has been fighting professionally much longer, Paull has been fighting a bigger battle his entire life. Thomas is a beacon of hope for millions worldwide who live their day to day lives being deaf or hard of hearing. For many, seeing Thomas compete at the level that he does reaffirms that truly anything is possible. With a dazzling look, charisma that can be felt when he walks in and the skills which he possesses, Thomas Paull is sure to turn heads before he even steps into the cage.
Erick da Silva has been fighting professionally since 2008. With over twenty wins to his name, Erick is as tough and battle-tested as they come. He comes into GTFP 19 with one goal: take Thomas Paull out. If Erick can do that, then his name value will skyrocket in the UK. So, both men have plenty to gain.
GTFP 19: Thomas Paull vs Erick da Silva
When the cage door shuts, nothing outside what each man brings in matters. Thomas is surely looking to let his striking go from what we’ve seen. The experience of da Silva could definitely lead to him opting to try and take this one to the canvas. Both men will be confident wherever this one ends up.
Thomas Paull has eleven professional wins to his name. In all eleven of his wins and looked stunning doing so. Since August of 2021, Thomas has already competed three times. As we’ve expected, he stopped each of those three opponents. At London’s Calling, John Lilley was put out. Then, at GTFP 16, Mario Saeed bit the dust. Most recently, in the GTFP 18 headliner, Thomas Paull put Perry Andre Goodwin out with a highlight reel knockout to win the Lightweight Championship. You can bet the house on Thomas coming for war.
Erick da Silva’s record is a bit muddy in the early days, so his finish percentage may be skewed. Yet, anyone who’s seen Erick knows that he is a finishing machine. Erick is always bringing the violence because of a variety of stoppages, from strikes to submissions to retirements to doctor’s stoppages. In 2015, Erick appeared on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil season four and even earned a finish in one of his fights there. He recently fought for Brave CF but has now found a home with Golden Ticket ahead of GTFP 19.
