After a 2 year hiatus, Gunnar Nelson is BACK, and is set to face the beloved Kevin Holland.
Now, no contracts have officially been signed yet. But it is reported that both fighters have verbally agreed to the fight in March at UFC London.
It’ll be almost 2 years to the day since we’ve seen Gunnar step in the cage; his last outing saw him submit Bryan Barbarena at UFC 286, the same night that Leon Edwards won his first defence against Kamaru Usman.
It appears to have become somewhat of a pattern for Gunnar to take extended periods of time out between fights, having previously fought Takashi Sato in March of 2022.
Trailblazer on the other hand seems to fight every other month, going into this fight against Gunnar just seven and a half weeks after his loss at UFC 311 against Reinier de Ridder.
Gunnar Nelson vs. Kevin Holland Set for UFC London
This is an important fight for both men. Despite his incredibly active career, Holland is currently 1-4, with the desire to get another mark in the win column. Whilst Nelson looks to remind fans who he is after this considerably long break.
On the same night fans can look forward to an excellent main event, Leon Edwards vs Jack Della Maddalena. With Edwards looking to get back to contender status after his loss to Belal Muhammad in July. Whilst JDM looks to continue his impressive win streak, following surgery after an arm break JDM sustained in his fight against Gilbert Burns. JDM looks to extend his impressive streak, with both men clearly eyeing a shot at gold, or in Edwards’ case, a rematch.
The card is certainly stacking up to be a great night of fights.
