Hamzah Sheeraz To Showcase New Skills Against Carlos Adames
Hamzah Sheeraz takes on Carlos Adames this Saturday for Adames WBC World Middleweight Title. Sheeraz has vowed to showcase new attributes, we’ve not seen before from himself.
It Hasn’t Been Smooth Sailing for Sheeraz
Sheeraz has for sure experienced the highs & lows of boxing so far. But he has came out winning on every occasion. His first real low of boxing, came in 2021. He came up against the experienced Bradley Skeete who seemed to be outboxing Sheeraz. Until he took a knee in the eighth and Sheeraz continued to punch him on the floor. He was only deducted one point Most believed he should have been disqualified seeing the damage it caused. Skeete was then stopped in the 9th. Since then Skeete retired, declined the rematch. He has now became manager/trainer of fighters such as Fran Hennessy.
Sheeraz was also a victim of hitting the canvas back in 2022 when in the third round versus Francisco Torres he was caught and dropped. However he dealt with it calmly, and then stopped Torres in the fifth round.
Benefiter of Riyadh Season
Hamzah Sheeraz, signed to Frank Warren & Queensberry has been a huge benefiter of Riyadh Season.
Before he featured on Riyadh Season, Sheeraz best win was a first round stoppage versus Liam Williams, when he headlined the Copperbox Arena in East London.
However, the hype really came to fruition when he was offered the Ammo Williams fight on the Queensberry vs Matchroom undercard. By far the biggest stage of him career, and his toughest fight. He stopped the previously undefeated Ammo in the eleventh round in a brilliant display. Sheeraz showcased to the world stage just how good he is.
The opportunities didn’t stop there. Three months on from that stoppage. He was offered the co main event prime time slot versus Tyler Denny on the Joshua-Dubois undercard at the sold out Wembley stadium. In front of the sellout 96,000 British crowd, Sheeraz blew Tyler Denny away in two rounds, cementing his spot at world level. Sheeraz then sat at 21-0, with 17 stoppages and his tall frame at middleweight at 6.2ft compared to most of his competitors is a huge advantage.
Those opportunities and how he’s dealt with the so called big step ups, is the reason why this Saturday in Riyadh he’s stepping up for the world title. He’s taking on the current holder (24-1) Carlos Adames on the mammoth undercard of the undisputed rematch of Beterbiev-Bivol.
Sheeraz Thoughts For This Saturday
When Hamzah Sheeraz spoke to the 6181 boxing podcast, he spoke of new attributes that we will see from him. That we have never seen before.
He said:
“I think we’re going to see things that I haven’t done before. We’re going to definitely see things I haven’t done before because I know this is one of the fights where I’m going to have to pull out certain things that haven’t been seen before. We’ll see what happens.”
Sheeraz is trained by Ricky Funes former trainer of Floyd Mayweather. Ricky has bold claims for Sheeraz, he said:
“The discipline that Hamzah has and his hunger for success is pure,” says Funez.
“I said after my first fight with him that he’s going to be the next Canelo (Alvarez) and the next face of boxing. He’s now got the fundamentals of boxing perfected. It took me five years to build with him but he’s a complete fighter,’ adds Funes, who once trained Floyd Mayweather.”
Sheeraz in fact was offered the Canelo fight last year, but his team turned it down as they saw it as ‘too soon’ for such step up.
Do you think Hamzah Sheeraz will become World Champion this Saturday?
