Henry Cejudo made some big calls at UFC 288 media day, calling the fight “easy money” as well as claiming the fight won’t last long.
Former flyweight and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo returns after a 3-year “retirement” at UFC 288 this Saturday in Newark New Jersey. Cejudo will be facing current champion Aljamain Sterling in the main event.
Sterling is on a great run in the UFC and is coming off a 2nd round stoppage of TJ Dillashaw last October. Sterling beat Dillashaw to defend his bantamweight title by TKO in the second round. To gain the title he won a DQ against Petr Yan and then defended the belt against him by winning a split decision.
The challenger Cejudo has been out of the game since 2020 and has had hands in training the likes of Jon Jones and Deveison Figueiredo. Upon his retirement, Cejudo was at the top of the division after beating Dominick Cruz.

At the UFC 288 pre-fight news conference Cejudo made some bold claims about the fight:
“Because it’s easy money. It’s easy money. I watched these guys after coaching some of the best in the world – Jon Jones, Demetrious Johnson, Zhang Weili, Deiveson Figueiredo, Jiri Prochazka – and I started to understand my talent a little bit better.”

Cejudo then commented on his condition ahead of this fight: “I know there is a window, I know there is a gap where I really do have to say goodbye. I’m 36 years old, I’m 36 years young, and I feel good. I feel really good.”
This main event is excellent matchmaking from the UFC and should be a highly competitive fight.
