Former Flyweight and Bantamweight UFC Champion Henry “Triple-C” Cejudo Speaks Highly of ‘Tough Opponent’ Song Yadong
Henry Cejudo returns from retirement at UFC Fight Night: Seattle on February 22nd against Song Yadong. Cejudo looks to end a two-fight losing skid after back-to-back losses to Aljamain Sterling and Merab Dvalishvili.
Following the loss to Dvalishvili at UFC 298, Cejudo retired for the second time, his first retirement coming after he won the Bantamweight title at UFC 249. Almost a year on from UFC 298 Cejudo got itchy knuckles and reversed his retirement again.
Song too looks to turn around his form after his UFC 299 fight against Petr Yan. Despite starting strong in the first round, Yan grew into the bout and beat Yadong to a unanimous decision victory.
Whilst remaining respectful of Song Yadong’s skillset Henry Cejudo is confident that he will finish the fight.
How “Triple-C” Sees the Fight Playing Out
On his podcast “Pound 4 Pound”, co-hosted by Kamaru Usman, he spoke about his upcoming bout:
“It’s going to turn out to be a banger, dude,” said Cejudo. “Stylistically, we’re both kind of little muscular humans. Song is a little taller, but he probably does cut a lot of weight. I personally like the fight stylistically, as well. I think Song is going to bring a lot of power, uses a lot of hands.”
“Triple-C” believes his game plan will aid him in finishing Yadong:
“But we also know that once you start doing some other things, he’ll be fading away just a bit. I have a good game plan set in place for a guy who is about 10 years younger than me. Song is a tough opponent, and I like it. But I can see myself stopping this dude. He’s going to need a lot more than a fortune cookie, let me tell you.”
Although Henry Cejudo believes Yadong will start “fading,” Song is no stranger to a five-round fight. Who will get their hand raised when the two face off at UFC Fight Night Seattle?
