Aljamain Sterling reacts after Henry Cejudo confirms he’s out of his scheduled fight with Marlon Vera at UFC 292.
Former double champ Henry Cejudo has informed fans that he is withdrawing from his fight against Marlon Vera at UFC 292. The news broke on Thursday when Cejudo informed fans he had a shoulder injury that was requiring rehab and he could not recover in time for Boston. Many fans and fighters have been reacting to the news but the bantamweight champion had some particularly harsh comments for the king of cringe.
Aljamain Sterling his Youtube Channel
Sterling took to his YouTube channel FunkMasterMMA to display his thoughts around Cejudo withdrawing froom his UFC 292 bout with Marlon Vera. The champion successfully defended his belt against Cejudo back in May this year in a heated affair. In what was a short three minute video Sterling had a lot to say about his former foe:
“Henry Cejudo is out of this fight. ‘The savage!’ Remember that? The savage? Texting Dana saying, ‘If that little p**** doesn’t want to fight, I’ll take the fight?’ Isn’t it funny how the roles are reversed now and this ‘little savage’ is no longer a savage? Very interesting.” This was in reference to when Cejudo made many comments about Sterling whilst being temporarily retired from the support teasing a comeback.
“For me, I call that being a dirty little weasel. You try to disparage my name in front of the fans and make it seem like I don’t want to fight, whatever, ‘the fight wasn’t that bad of a fight so you should be able to turn around.’ Guys, I’m telling you from experience, from a championship experience, defending multiple times… it’s very, very different getting ready for 25 minutes versus 15 minutes.”

The Future for Sterling
Now with his sights set on UFC 292 where he headlines against Sean O’Malley, Sterling will aim to add one more title defence before he relinquishes the belt and moves up to 145lbs. For some time ‘Funkmaster’ has spoken about being tight at the weight and has documented how he can gain up to 35lbs post fight so a move up in weight seemed inevitable. The move coincides with teammate and best friend Merab Dvalishvili surging towards the title with a suffocating pressure and style which was on full display against former champ Petr Yan a few months ago.
