Ian Garry and Colby “Chaos” Covington continue their online feud.
Irishman Ian Garry (14-0-0) has continued his pursuit of former title challenger Colby “Chaos” Covington in a recent interview. Their disapproval of each other has gone on since Garry beat Geoff Neal at UFC 298 in February. Following the victory Garry set his sights on Colby in his post-fight interview which triggered a chain of back-and-forth aggro between the two ever since.
Covington didn’t take kindly to the call responding with some unfavourable words towards Garry’s wife Layla Machado Garry. To which Ian Garry responded with total disregard for the ability and skillset of Covington. The fight would be a hit amongst fans and certainly promotes itself with the controversy surrounding the two. Although they continue to gripe one another there is still no confirmation from Garry, Covington or the UFC about a potential fight date.
Ian Garry Doubts Colby Covington’s Intentions
The matchup remains pending until the two sign a contract with Garry doubtful of Covington’s intentions. Garry told Full Send MMA that believes “Chaos” can talk the talk but won’t walk the walk.
“The truth is, I genuinely don’t see any world where Colby signs the contract. I genuinely don’t, but if he’s man enough to, and if he has the balls to do it, then Colby, show up.”
It has been months nearly 5 months since Colby Covington’s last fight in which he lost to Welterweight champion Leon Edwards. Colby hinted at his future on TwinsPod that he is eyeing a return in June.
“Yeah, I’m gonna fight this summer for sure, Someone is gonna get fought. They’re trying to figure out who is the best name and what the best business is for the UFC. International Fight Week is this summer… I think that’s when they plan for me to fight.”
He also went on to address the beef with Ian Garry blaming the Irishman for their lack of a confirmed fight.
“There’s this kid who has been calling me out… Ian Garry, He’s a nobody. I gave him some stipulations and said ‘Hey man if you wanna fight me you have to show me that you’re serious about business.”
Garry Plans to Beat Covington at His Own Game
Now three months since “The Future” called for Covington and still nothing is set in stone it is not certain if we will see this fight. But Ian Garry has his intentions set and doesn’t want anyone else. Backstage at UFC 301 this weekend Garry added to this list of things he intends to do to Covington if they eventually meet.
“If Colby signs that contract [to fight me], I’m gonna walk out with my knee up going, ‘Take the f****** thing. Take the f****** thing and let’s see what happens.’ I will rag doll him. I promise you now. There’s no doubt in my mind I will rag doll him.“
Garry’s planning to initiate the wrestling shows how confident he is given Covington’s reputation for endless cardio and relentless wrestling. Ian Garry has no respect for the prowess of Colby and plans to expose him.
“Show the people why you’re so good. I don’t think you’re any f****** good, and I think I’ll slap the mouth off you within five minutes.”
The dust is far from settled and with a possible date at International Fight Week in mind only time will tell if this fight will come to fruition.
