Levi Batchelor will try to become a two-division champion when he takes on reigning featherweight champion Ieuan Mackenzie on June 25th. The bout will headline, what will be, the seventh instalment of Cage Warriors Academy Wales.
Mackenzie vs. Batchelor
Mackenzie, who recently became a double champion himself, will look to make his first CWAW title defence. “The Lion” was originally scheduled to defend his belt in March. However, several complications with opponents dropping out left him unable to compete.
Batchelor comes into the bout as the current bantamweight champion and will look to stretch his unbeaten record to 6-0. The Shore MMA prodigy made a statement in March when he beat Gabriel Gomez in Ebbw Vale.
A scrap between the two amateur champs has been teased in recent weeks. Now, they will put it all on the line for what will likely be another sold-out Ebbw Vale Sports Centre.
The Full Card
The second title fight announced for June will see Alex Gill take on Ioan Harris. Gill, who is riding a 4-fight win streak, will look to pick up the vacant welterweight strap. Whilst Harris, who is also on an impressive win streak, will be coming into this fight with a great deal of confidence.
As usual, the card will feature some of Shore MMA’s best amateurs. After wins in March, Ioan Thomas, Kane Darcy and Jack Beazley will return to the cage. Also returning are Befan Hall, Kian Hall and Grant Elliot.
The card is poised to provide fans with another terrific showing of Welsh MMA. As history has shown, opponent changes and card reshuffles can be expected. So, you can follow all the build-up and fighter news here at Combat Sports UK!
