Visualisation is in full swing for undefeated amateur Alex Home ahead of Saturdays clash with Jimmy Saddique at UKFC 19. Home is anticipating having two belts to his name this time next year.
The flyweight fighter’s squeaky clean record is one to be proud of thus far in the early stages of his amateur career. 2021 saw Home pick up two victories, a convincing decision over Thayub Ehsan at Anarchy Fight Series 1, and a slick rear-naked-choke submission at UKFC 16 over Cameron Thompson. Following that, Home kick started his 2022 campaign with a 32-second submission over Abdul Choudhury.
We had the pleasure of speaking with Alex Home ahead of Saturday nights contest. Hear what he had to say below.
Interview With Alex Home
In February, you went (3-0) at UKFC 18 with a sharp round one finish. Talk to me about that fight. Were you completely satisfied with the performance, or would you have liked to show more of what you’ve been working on inside the gym? What’s your take?
I mean, you can’t go wrong with a 32second win. However, I would have liked to show a lot more as I’ve improved massively in all aspects of the game.
We have only seen 32 seconds of you since your fight at the back end of 2021. Just how better have you got, and where do you feel you’ve made the biggest improvements in your game?
As I said, I’ve improved in all aspects but especially my wrestling which I lacked in my second fight.
A squeaky clean record thus far with two impressive finishes. From your point of view, how would you sum up your amateur career thus far?
Squeaky clean, it will stay, and it’s been good. I’ve only had fights with good guys from good gyms, and it will stay like that.
Saturday night will mark your third time competing on UKFC. What do you like about the show so much to keep returning?
I’m coming for the belt and being the number 1 flyweight in the UK.
On the night, you’ll meet Jimmy Saddique. What were your initial thoughts when offered Jimmy as an opponent, and how do you view his skillset as a fellow competitor?
He’s good and well rounded, but I’m better. I can’t wait to show my skills and put on a show.
Haven’t really been focusing on him too much. I know he’s well rounded, but so am I, so no matter where the fight goes, I’m going to be comfy.
You’ve started the year busy and seem to be going full steam ahead. This time next year, what position do you want to find yourself in?
This time next year, I can see a belt or two in my name.
Lastly, when you visualise this fight. How do you think it unfolds? How does Alex Home get it done on the night?
I will get it done in the second round if that’s a submission or a TKO. Only time will tell.
