Fred Bevan is raring to go and filled with confidence ahead of his clash this Saturday with Mert Tascakar at Meltdown Fighting Championship 8.
Bevan enters Saturday’s contest with an amateur record of (1-1). Last summer, the LDFighters representative debuted at Golden Ticket Fight Promotions 18 and was off to a flying start after submitting Bradley Chalmers in the first round. One month after, Bevan was out again but unfortunately dropped a decision at the hands of Jamie Waker.
The young fighter is in a good headspace ahead of his return to MMA competition, so this one is not to be missed.
The Thornbury Sports Centre in Bristol will play host to Meltdown Fighting Championship 8 on Saturday. The fight card currently consists of twelve fights. The PPV can be purchased using the link provided below.

Interview With Fred Bevan
Saturday night, you are back in action after a small break from competing. Talk to me. How are you feeling ahead of Saturday’s fight with Mert Tascakar?
Yes, I haven’t been as active as I wanted to be. However, I’m feeling really confident to be back in the cage. I am excited about the buzz of competition and the thrill of fighting again. After all, it is why we do this.
You’re coming off a loss in your lasting outing at Battle Arena vs Jamie Walker. Does the mindset change leading into this one after suffering the loss?
The only change in my mindset for this fight is that I’m more confident in my abilities. Knowing I can take the fight how I want gives me great confidence. It was a close fight with Jamie, and I learnt a lot from that bout.
Assuming you’ve watched that one back, what do you feel went wrong on the night, and what do you need to implement on Saturday to ensure you leave Bristol in the win column?
I’ve spoken to many people and watched that fight back several times. I put a lot of effort into that fight but didn’t capitalise on the opportunities I created in the cage. Yes, on my record, it was a loss, but actually, I think you could score that fight either way, as it was very close. You don’t lose in life, you learn, and I have come out a better fighter. For Saturday, I just need to stick to what I know and fight my fight.
Training and Traveling
Some may say you are living the dream, looking at your social media. Travelling the world and exploring. Talk to me a bit about travelling, and has that had any impact on training over the years?
Lives are too short not to be living the dream. There are many places I’ve seen and an even bigger list of places I want to go to. Traveling has not made an impact on my training as I’m fairly new to the sport, and with covid, I haven’t had the chance to travel much anyway. However, my next big adventure is to move Down Under. Australia has been a dream of mine for a long time, and hopefully, this summer, I’m making that one-way flight. I’m looking forward to finding a new gym and getting back to grafting. I cant wait to see what the Australian amateur MMA scene is like!
With some time out since your last fight, assuming you’ve been in the gym working. Can we expect to see any new tools added to the toolbox of Fred Bevan?
Of course, this sport has no heights in its potential to learn new things. I’ve still been training regularly, sharpening the basics and developing with a great team around me at LDfighters.
Bevans Talks Opposition
When you look at the fight with Mert Tascakar on paper, how do you view it? Do you feel you have the edge? Let me know your thoughts on the fight as a whole?
Truthfully, I haven’t really looked at it on paper. I know he’s had some time off and will be looking to put on a show. It looks to be he has more of a stand-up, striking style of fighting, and I’m looking forward to matching my abilities to his. MMA can always go one way or the other. The paper statistics do not matter. What counts is your ability to be able to control the chaos inside the cage each time that door is locked.
Lastly, when you visualise Saturday night. How do you get it done on Meltdown FC 8?
I obviously can’t tell you my game plan, but let’s just say it won’t be going the distance this time.
