Jack Comby returns to the Almighty FC Octagon for the first time since his Fight of the Night barnburner with Mantas Kondratavičius at Almighty FC 22.
The Lodge MMA fighter enters the bout following a well-needed lay-off after giving fans one of the greatest fights in the history of the promotion. Comby and Mantas went toe-to-toe for two rounds and rightly so left Houghton le Spring with a bonus.
Almighty FC 26 takes place in Houghton le Spring on Saturday, June 25th, in the Rainton Arena. It will be the promotion’s second trip to the Rainton Arena, and if it’s anything like the first, attendees are in for a treat.
We had the opportunity to catch up with Jack Comby before his fight on Saturday night. Read the full exclusive below.
Interview With Jack Comby
It’s fight week, as you set off to Houghton le Springs for the second time this year. How have things been in terms of training and outside of the Octagon since your last meeting with Mantas?
Been very good. Been stepping things up to the next level. I’ve been training twice as hard and twice as much. I’ve also been strict with my dieting and everything else and treating my pro career as it should be treated.
We can’t talk about your upcoming fight before touching on the fight with Mantas. One, if not the best fight we have ever seen on Almighty FC? Talk to me about that fight, how you felt, and how long did it take you to recover?
It’s was a cracking fight was just a pleasure to be there, and against Mantas, what a warrior that guy is as I’ve said before, I want to fight the best, and I’d rather lose against an opponent like mantas than win a divvy who can’t fight. Also, the recovery was pretty quick. I was stiff for a few days but very minor when you look back on the fight.
Despite losing, that fight has gone into Almighty history books, and for me personally, the best fight I have witnessed live. Do you still take some pride away from that, although the result didn’t go your way?
Oh definitely, all I asked for myself was to put my all into the fight, and I did. He was the better man on the day, and I enjoyed myself, and the fans also had a good experience which for me is absolutely great.
You’ve had some time to recover and recharge the batteries. Has Jack Comby added any new tools to his arsenal while being out? Can we expect to see any new additions to your game on June 25th?
At the Lodge, we are always learning new things and stepping things up. We have a good routine and an excellent squad behind us to keep pushing on and improve every day.
You meet David Connoly on Saturday night. What do you know about your opponent, if anything? Have you had the chance to watch his two fights? Give me your take on his skill-set? Is there anything that stands out to you?
I don’t normally watch my opponents, but my coach terry has, and he’s been giving me pointers along the way, and we’ve just been covering all bases. He seems to be an all-rounded fighter, but I believe I bring so much more to the table.
Dare I ask what type of fight you are anticipating on Saturday night? You thrived in that Fight of the Night atmosphere, but I assume you want an easier night at the office?
It’s going to be another banger of a fight. I hope I am going out there to put my all into it. I hope he does as well. Give the crowd another great fight to watch and hopefully take another one of their bonuses away with me.
If all goes well, can we expect to see you in there a couple of times before the year closes? What are your goals from now until the end of 2022?
I definitely want to go a few more times in the cage by the end of the year, keep active and get my name spread out around the MMA community.
Lastly, how does Jack Comby get it done at Almighty FC 26?
I can’t tell all my secrets, but one thing people can know is it’s going to be one hell of a fight, and I will be taking a bonus check away with me.
