Interview With Kayne Holmes
Fight night is approaching at Almighty Fighting Championship 28. We last saw you in the AFC Octagon in January. Was the plan always to have this seven-month stretch away from competing? Is there any reason we haven’t seen you back competing sooner?
I planned to have a break from competing because I’ve recently had a baby girl, but still, I never had a break from the gym. I’ve been mainly sharpening my tools, and I feel great for doing so. I’m on a whole new level now.
You met an experienced Adam Battley last time out at AFC 22 in Houghton le Springs. How much confidence did that give you leaping back into the win column after losing two on the bounce? Did the fight pan out how you envisioned?
To be real, the losses I’ve had has never messed with my confidence because of the level of the guys I’ve lost to. But at the same time, it’s obviously great to be back into the winning column. I did what I had to against Adam. My team believed the blueprint to beat Adam was to wrestle, so my game plan couldn’t have gone any better.
Kayne Holmes Talks Preparation
Talk me through your preparations ahead of Aug.20. I saw you got rounds in at ACE MMA. How often were you there, and who else have you worked with this camp?
My prediction is that it’s going to be a real scrap, and it’s not one to be missed. Me and a few lads from my team go down to ACE MMA once a week, and We couldn’t get better rounds anywhere else. They are all great lads. They’ve been a huge part of my fight camp. I believe I’m training with the best guys around and I’m just fully prepared for anything that gets put in front of me.
With seven months away from the cage, can we expect to see any new tools added to the game of Kayne Holmes?
In the seven months I’ve had off from competing, I’ve been just covering up any holes in my game and constantly improving. This will be for sure the best version you’ve seen of myself yet.
Harry Edwards as an Opponent
Harry Edwards is your opponent on the night. What do you know about him, and how do you feel you match up against him?
Of course, Harry is a solid opponent, but I’m just ready to show levels. I believe I beat him anywhere the fight goes.
This will be your third time competing under the Almighty FC banner. You obviously like the setup and the way the promotion is run to keep returning? What are your thoughts on the show as a whole, and why do you like fighting under Ray Thompsons’ lights?

Almighty is great. We’ve never had any issues with it. I think the setups are always spot on, and the fights never disappoint. Ray is always a pleasure to work with. He gets the job done every time!
What type of fight are you anticipating from Harry, and can you enlighten us with an official prediction?
I’m just excited to show case my skill. It’s been too long, but my prediction is domination.
