Poland born Lukasz Kutko is coming into Saturday’s bout as eager as ever, hunting the second win of his amatuer career.
This Saturday, Meltdown Fighting Championship 8 takes centre stage from the Thornbury Sports Centre, with 12 fun-filled fights expected to take place.
We caught up with one man in Lukasz Kutko, who makes the walk for the fourth time as an amateur this Saturday. Kutko stands at (1-2) and is coming off his first victory at Meltdown Fighting Championship 7 in November of last year, where he submitted Dean Saunders in round three.

Interview With Lukasz Kutko
One week out until your first fight of 2022. Talk to me about preparation and this training camp in general. How has it been? Have you made any new additions to your normal training schedule, or have things remained the same?
I got back to training end of January after a month off for Christmas and time with my family after dedicating half of 2021 to get back into the Octagon. After my fight, I have made a few adjustments to my fighting style, but nothing has dramatically changed in my fight camp. My coach Iron Piotr Ptasinski pushed me to my limits and got me to train with UFC veterans and high skilled wrestlers, which I’m very grateful for.
Towards the end of last year, you picked up your first MMA win as an amateur. How much of a relief and how important was that victory for you to get that first win under your belt?
I think it was a big relief for myself as I believe I got robbed in my first bouts which kind of demotivated me as I knew what I was capable of, which is why I came back and put on a performance and knew I needed to get a finish without getting the judges involved.
Lukasz Kutko Journey Into the Sport
I like to ask those I am talking to for the first time about their journey into MMA. How did you first get involved with the sport?
When I was young, I always got into little scraps and was a little s**t, not going to lie, but I was always interested in MMA and into combat sports in general. When my stepdad told me about UFC, I couldn’t resist myself, and since then been training harder than ever.
You spent two years away from the Octagon before coming back and winning. Do you feel the time away factored into your impressive performance at Meltdown FC 7?
Most definitely, those two years really played a part in MFC7 and will always play a part in my life. Really in that time off, I met my girlfriend and was slowly getting back to daily training, and she supported me every day.
Next Saturday, you meet Alex Lownds. What do you believe he brings to the table when you both square off? Have you seen much of him before?
I’m always humble and respectful towards my opponents. As it’s Alex’s debut, I could only find a few clips of him doing pads which is nothing really, so I can’t give you a good answer on this one, but I hope he brings in a scrap so we can put on a show.
Lastly, can we get an official fight prediction?
Most definitely not going to the judges’ scorecards. I’m looking to finish him.
