Islam Makhachev secures a second-round arm triangle choke to defeat Charles Oliveira at UFC 280.
Following in the footsteps of his protege Khabib Nurmagomedov, Islam Makhachev has gain the UFC Lightweight championship. Now on an eleven-fight winning streak Makhachev reigns supreme at 155 pounds.
The Start
Starting the first it appears the two would stand and trade. This didn’t last for long as Charles soon pulled guard. While on the ground Islam works hard and remains disiplined not giving anything away. Charles threatens the submissions but to no avail.

What’s Next?
With a lot of the top of the division remaining from Khabibs reign. He could following in his footsteps and take out the likes of Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor.
If he opts against this there are still plenty of suitors. With a victorious Beneil Dariush, and Michael Chandler also potentially lurking in the periphery.
One final opponent that was made evident after the fight is Alexander Volkanovski. The Featherweight champion was called out from Islam, who then swiftly entered the cage for a face off.
