UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev has expressed doubts about Conor McGregor’s preparation for his upcoming fight at UFC 303.
Conor McGregor is gearing up for his return to the Octagon, where he will face Michael Chandler in the main event of UFC 303 next month. The fight is set to take place during International Fight Week, with McGregor aiming to prove that he remains one of the sport’s elite competitors.
McGregor is well-known for enjoying his downtime, and recently, footage surfaced showing him partying just weeks before his highly anticipated bout. This has sparked a lot of discussion among fans and fighters alike, including Islam Makhachev, who shared his thoughts on the situation.
Islam Makhachev Talks Conor McGregor and Party Habits
“Dustin can land this with Conor who has become very old guy,” Makhachev told MMA Junkie on Wednesday. “But I don’t give him some chance to land some punch to me.”
Makhachev continued, “I don’t know who is going to win, but now it’s more focus, more training Chandler that’s why he can beat him. Maybe (Conor) do some camp in the club.”
These comments from Makhachev highlight the scepticism surrounding McGregor’s current training regimen and his focus ahead of the fight. Many are questioning whether McGregor is taking Chandler seriously enough and if his preparation is sufficient.
There are various perspectives on McGregor’s behaviour in the lead-up to his clash with Chandler. Some believe he is not focused, while others think he might be underestimating his American opponent.
