Jack Cartwright misses out on a UFC contact, this time. In a competitive fight, Jack missed out on the scorecards. Showing he has a high level game. He will no doubt be back.
The Fight
After a first round that saw both men have moments. Jack with some deep submission attempts and Johnson gaining mount, landing some nice ground and pound. It was a round where the grappling was on full display with good transitions all around.
The second was also mainly a ground-based offensive affair. Jack held top position for the main portion of the round. After scoring a couple of good takedowns. Once again Jose showed his experience and gained an advantage through the last 30 seconds of the round.
Following the first two rounds, the third was also a grappling match. Once again Jack Cartwright scored the takedowns, but it was Jose who was scoring damage.
A competitive fight where both men had moments. It was the striking activity and damage scored that won Jose the fight.
What’s Next?
Not his night, he had his moments throughout the fight. With a few minor adjustments, this fight could have been a completely different contest. Proving his grappling is at a decent level, it was a lack of output that hurt him on the score cards.
A former Cage Warriors Bantamweight champion. He’ll without doubt be back. Next time out there will be definite improvements for Jack and his team.
