Jack Catterall vs Arnold Barboza Jr: Fight Card Preview
It’s a huge night this Saturday in Manchester. As Jack Catterall tops the stacked bill for the Interim WBO World Super-Lightweight Title versus undefeated Arnold Barboza Jr. All the action is live on DAZN from the Co-Op arena in Manchester.
Jack Catterall vs Arnold Barboza Jr
The main event this Saturday is for the WBO interim world super lightweight title. El Gato (30-1) Jack Catterall from Chorley returns after his win over Regis Prograis last year. Jack Catterall is beginning to staple his name in Manchester. The Chorley Boy will be headlining the new Co-Op Arena for the second time already since its official opening last year. He’s becoming one of the UK’s biggest stars. Nobody deserves it better than Jack. He should already have been an undisputed champ not even have picked up a world title yet. Jack is one of the most deserving fighters left in the sport.
However in the opposite corner is the undefeated American (31-0) Arnold Barboza Jr. Barboza comes into the right from a win in Riyadh over Jose Ramirez, on the ‘Latino Night’, in a not-so-thrilling fight. Before that, Barboza took a hugely controversial decision win over Irish fighter Sean McComb, which sparked massive debate among fight fans. With the fight being a dominant performance from McComb. However, the judges thought otherwise.
The Undercard
Chief support for the night is a massive grudge match between Reece Bellotti and Michael Gomez Jr for the British & Commonwealth super featherweight titles. It’s a big fight with bad blood. Back when Catterall fought Prograis, this fight was set to take place on the undercard… until just ONE hour before the ring walks were to take place. Gomez Jr pulled out due to medical reasons. Bellotti didn’t believe him on the night with an angry interview. Reece still doesn’t believe him and the bad blood will be settled this Saturday in an all-out war.
Also featuring is Manchester’s own (31-2) Zelfa Barrett taking on Liverpudlian (34-5) Jazza Dickens in an intriguing fight in the super featherweight division.
Pat McCormack also features in a big step up versus Robbie Davies Jr in a good step up in level for Pat. Davies Jr coming off a loss in a FOTY contender vs Lipinets who recently got stopped by Adam Azim.
