Jack Grundy is well prepared for his K1 fight this Saturday at Goliath Fight Series 4 in Alloa, Scotland.
The amateur MMA fighter will still be competing inside the cage on fight night, but he will be limited to just one discipline, and that’s something he’s unfazed with.
Ahead of the fight, we had the chance to catch-up with Jack Grundy to get his thoughts and feelings ahead of the weekend. Hear what he had to say below.
Interview With Jack Grundy
Jack, we are a couple of weeks out until you make the walk and compete in the cage, but this time in a K1 contest. Firstly, how do you feel as we close in on fight week?
Im feeling really good coming into fight week im never out of fight camp, and im always in top shape.
You’ve been incredibly active in MMA this year and picked up two wins on UKFC. Just touch on those bouts at the start of the year and how important it was for you to keep active in 2023.
I wanted to stay active this year because I wanted that big burst on the amateur scene and really show what level im at, and I’ll still have plenty of fights this year to show that.
This time out at Goliath Fight Series, your swapping is mixing all the disciplines together and focusing on just one. What was the mindset in wanting to test your stand-up in a K1 fight between MMA fights?
The mindset towards this k1 fight is just I was offered it by one of my coaches, and it’s more like, why not? Because there are not many MMA shows in the summer, so I’d like to build my experience by keeping active.
Jack Grundy Talks Wrestling
If I can, I’d love to touch on your dad, a staple in UK Wrestling. He hung up his boots in a wrestling match against you, his son. What was that experience and emotion like, given the great cause extremely close to your heart you wrestled for?
Ye, it was a strange experience, to say the least, to wrestle my dad in front of people, but it was all fun and for a great cause, so I enjoyed it, and so did everyone else. That’s all that matters.
Marc McMahon is the man you’ll meet. How much do you know about him, the style he brings, and how do you go about preparing as opposed to your MMA prep? Stepping into his world, is it just a case of focussing on what you can do and not worrying about him?
Yes, I don’t know much about my opponent. This is just another fight to me, and I’m preparing as I do for all my fights training consistently and constantly, but I’m not worried at all. I train with high-level strikers day in and day out.
Although it’s not MMA, everyone knows what you bring to the cage on fight night. But tease the Scottish crowd about what they can expect from you at Goliath Fight Series.
The crowd can be expecting a high pace, action-packed fight.
