Interview With Jack Humphries
Two weeks out from a big fight for yourself at GTFP 22. Four months since we last saw you in a competing setting. How have things been since then, and have you been consistently working since then?
I haven’t left the gym evolving every day. This is a lifestyle for me. That’s it.
The last four outings, you’ve represented England, competing in the IMMAF World and European Championships. Talk to me about that experience as a whole and what you take from that.
European championships were the time of my life, with real team spirit, great people, lifelong achievements and memories also a valuable experience. World championships are a great experience, but that’s in the past now. Lessons learnt, though.
What does it mean to you to be able to represent your country and fly that flag high in tournaments?
Very special, and I feel privileged. It’s a lifelong achievement that makes my family, friends and girlfriend proud of me and a memory I’ll take with me until the end.
I mentioned this is a big fight coming up for you as it was announced the winner would fight for the bantamweight title next. Does that add more fuel to the fire ahead of fight night and give you more of an edge in camp?
I just see it as people in my way, and I need to F**k them off. Tbh, at this point, I’m going to take a good man to take me out.
Jack Humphries Talks Opponent
Garon Shemar is the man standing in your way on fight night. How do you feel about the matchup as a whole from a stylistic standpoint?
Easy work.
Having watched Garon’s previous three bouts back, do you anticipate him bringing anything to the cage that you haven’t seen before?
Easy work.
When Garon announced the fight on his social media, he said, “Looking forward to taking out another top prospect” I’m wondering if you had a response to that.
Difference between confidence and reality, mate.
Finally, do you have any last words for Garon before the cage door closes on you both?
You are going to sleep, or you are going to quit inside one. Good luck.
