In July of 2022, Jack Shore experienced his first ever defeat as a fighter. A second round submission defeat at the hands of Ricky Simon. Since then, the Welshman has picked up a substantial injury and announced a move up to 145lbs. Now, Jack Shore next fight could be upon us.
In a recent interview with Violent Money TV, “Tank” stated: “I’m feeling fitter and stronger than ever, heading into 2023. I’ve had a much needed rest to sort some injury’s and more importantly, I’m back in love with training and fighting again. Line them up at 145 because we’re coming out firing this year.”
Not only that, but he has also called for a fight at UFC 286, which is set to take place in London. The number 14 ranked bantamweight is hoping to stay busy this year, but who should he face on his return?
Jack Shore Next Fight
Mike Trizano
Mike Trizano stayed busy in 2022, competing three times across the year. He began the year with back-to-back defeats to Hakeem Dawodu and Lucas Almeida. However, he finished the year on a high after finishing Seung Woo Choi in the first round in crazy fashion. The TUF 27 winner is always involved in some crazy fights, so could a fight with him and Shore be on the cards?
Both men are very accomplished grapplers and as we have seen in his recent bouts, Trizano loves to put on a show. We saw at UFC London in March of last year that Shore is also becoming more than competent to stand and strike. It’s an intriguing fight and could really be one for the fans.
Pat Sabatini
32-year-old Pat Sabatini had an excellent start to his UFC career, picking up four wins in a year and a performance of the night bonus. His most recent fight came in September when he was handed his first UFC loss by Damon Jackson. Despite this, Sabatini has proved himself to be a problem in the 145lbs division.
He recently got a submission victory over Alex Caceres at Fury Pro Grappling 6, showcasing his skills on the mat.
Three of his five UFC fights have ended in decision. We know that he has the cardio and we know that he’s more than willing to take you down and keep you there. Stylistically a fight against Jack would be interesting. Both men are quite similar, therefore, this one could go down to the wire. Don’t be surprised to see this one materialise in 2023.
Ryan Hall
Ryan “The Wizard” Hall was absent throughout 2022. His last fight came in December of 2021, when he secured the judges decision against Darrick Minner. Known for his notorious leg locks, Hall is not to be played with inside the cage. The TUF 22 winner has only lost once since winning his contract in 2015, a KO defeat to Ilia Topuria.
A fight against Shore could be a great matchup for him as he prepares to return. There’s no doubt that Jack would welcome this challenge and a win would certainly show that he deserves to be taken seriously at featherweight. Topuria proved that Hall can be beaten, even with a style as unique as his. There’s no word yet when “The Wizard” aims to return but this fight would certainly deliver.
Bill Algeo
I could certainly see this fight being a real possibility in the early stages of the year. Bill Algeo has had a mixed bag of results since signing with the promotion. However, he finished 2022 2-1 across the year. Two victories against Herbert Burns and Joanderson Brito, including a performance of the night bonus, have shown that he possess all the skills necessary to be a standout in the division.
Given where both men currently stand within the promotion, I could see a fight between Algeo and Shore coming about sometime this year. It’s an ideal test for Jack as he makes the move up a division and gives Bill the opportunity to stamp his position also. This has the potential to be a really fun matchup and I’m sure everyone would be happy to see this fight take place in London.
Alex Caceres
When it was announced that Shore would be making the move to featherweight, this matchup was called for by a lot of fans. One of the UFC’s veterans, Alex Caceres has been fighting for the promotion for over 10 years now. He’s experienced it all since his debut. Since July 2019, he has fought seven times, losing just once.
After a recent performance of the night, KO victory, over Julian Erosa, Caceres is ready for everything 2023 may bring. He’s told us that he loves to travel, so could a fight with him and Shore take place in London? It was recently announced that he would be fighting Nate Landwehr in March, but perhaps this fight materialise later on.
Every aspect of this fight screams exciting and a win over Caceres would stamp Shore as a real contender.
