One of the key elements in Toye’s preparation is adapting to the differences between fighting in a cage versus a traditional ring:
“It is a totally different experience in the cage compared to the ring,” Toye points out. “It’s a lot bigger, so there’s more space to move around. But at the same time, when you’re up against the cage, it feels like there’s nowhere to go.”
Preparing for Archie Jones has required a focus on his opponent’s previous performances. Toye stresses the importance of studying Jones’s past fights while also being ready for unexpected changes:
“I always try to prepare for my fights based on my opponent’s skill and ability,” he says. “But all I can go on is his previous bouts. Come fight night, he could be a totally different fighter.”
Despite the uncertainties, Toye remains confident in his ability to retain his title:
“Come fight night, that belt won’t be going anywhere. That’s all there is to say about it, really.”
Toye’s rigorous training regimen and strategic preparation highlight his determination to stay at the top. The fight at the Doncaster Dome promises to be an exciting and intense match, showcasing Toye’s skills and readiness to defend his title.
