A flyweight matchup between Dana White Contender Series contract winners Jake “White Kong” Hadley and Carlos “The Cannon” Candelario is set to place on November 5th.
The event currently known as UFC Fight Night 214 is expected to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. Verbal agreements are in place with official contracts and announcements inbound. Hadley also confirmed the fight news on Twitter.
Hadley is looking to bounce back after taking his first professional loss to Brazillian fighter Allen Nascimento in May this year. Previously Hadley had won 8 straight, including a title win for the Cage Warriors Flyweight title. As well as a submission victory in Dana Whites Contender Series, which got him into the UFC.
Despite missing weight for the show, Hadley became the first fighter to miss weight but still earn a UFC contract. Testament to his skills, one would presume. The Englishman currently fights out of Birmingham, England. Home of newly crowned Welterweight Champion, Leon Edwards.
Candelario too is looking for his first win inside the UFC octagon. He too most recently lose a decision, on the very same card that Hadley did. UFC Vegas 54, in May. “The Cannon” despite losing via split decision on Dana White’s Contender Series, earned himself a UFC contract. The first to get signed from the show, despite losing. Despite the two recent losses, Carlos, like Hadley, had an 8 fight-winning streak. Four of them came by a first-round finish.
Make or Break?
The pressure will be on both men to earn their first win within the UFC. More often than not 3 consecutive losses in the cage will see you cut from the roster. Unless your name is Sam Alvey. Both men will surely look for a statement-making performance in November, in what is one of the UFC’s fastest-paced weight classes. Must see TV.
