Jake Paul is set to face former UFC ace Nate Diaz in a boxing fight that will unite combat sports fans from across the world.
Paul’s most recent bout was against reality TV star Tommy Fury, brother of the WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. Paul was defeated via a split decision in February of this year.
Jake Paul aims to bounce back in style with a win over former UFC lightweight contender Nate ‘209’ Diaz. This will be Diaz’s first walk into a boxing ring having only competed in MMA before.
Nate Diaz’s last venture came against Tony Ferguson in a makeshift bout at UFC 279. Nate would show off his rounded mixed martial arts ability by submitting him with a guillotine.
The bout is set to take place on August 5th and was originally scheduled for eight rounds. However after a recent tweet from “The Problem Child”, it now appears the fight may change to a ten-round affair.
On Twitter, he wrote: “Nate Diaz wants 10 rounds. I guess he has good cardio. Ok Nathan, 10 rounds it is.”
Nate Diaz Wants Ten Rounds in Jake Paul Fight
This suggests that Diaz, the much older competitor heading into the fight at 38 years of age, believes he has better cardio than Paul.
Both of his last two fights have entered the ‘championship’ round. Leon Edwards was the other man that took Diaz to the judges, but a late surge from Nate almost swung the fight on its head. Once again proving that he has the engine to go the distance with a world-class caliber of fighter.
One of Diaz’s former opponents who has predicted the outcome of this fight is Ireland’s own, Conor McGregor who recently shared his views on how the fight will play out.
