Jake Paul Reveals Plans for Next Two Opponents After Mike Tyson Fight
As Jake Paul steps into the ring tonight against legendary boxer Mike Tyson, the YouTuber-turned-boxer already has his next two opponents mapped out. Paul has revealed plans to challenge Canelo Alvarez for a cruiserweight title before making his highly anticipated MMA debut in 2025. With his bold ambitions, Paul continues to push boundaries in combat sports, all while taking on one of the most iconic names in boxing history.
Jake Paul Names Canelo Alvarez as His Next Opponent
If Paul emerges victorious against Mike Tyson, his next target is clear:
“It’s Canelo,” Paul said when asked who he would call out next, “This moment will prove I’m the face of boxing, the largest attraction, and me vs. Canelo at 200lb for the cruiserweight championship of the world is the biggest fight, arguably even bigger than me vs. Tyson.”
Paul believes that a fight against Alvarez, one of the sport’s greatest champions, will solidify his place in boxing history:
“Canelo is on his way out. He’s going to want a payday and I want to show the world all the stuff I’ve been talking about beating Canelo is actually true,” Paul added. He even predicted that defeating Alvarez would rank as “the biggest upset in the history of boxing.”
The stakes couldn’t be higher for Paul, who has described the fight as a way to prove who truly deserves the title of boxing’s biggest star, “We’ll fight to really see who is the face because after this event, I’m going to be claiming it,” Paul declared.
MMA Debut in 2025?
In addition to his boxing plans, Paul is gearing up for his first MMA fight. After signing with the Professional Fighters League
(PFL) in 2022, Paul has been building toward a debut in the cage. According to PFL CEO Peter Murray, Paul’s MMA debut is expected to take place in 2025,
“I’m not sure if it’s going to be his very next fight in combat sports, but he will debut in 2025,”
Murray expressed confidence in Paul’s abilities, highlighting his work ethic and trailblazing approach to combat sports:
“Look what Jake has proved in boxing; he’s an incredible athlete, he’s a pro boxer, and he’s taken on some legit opponents. He’s going to do it the same way in MMA,” Murray said.
Paul’s MMA debut could also see him face familiar rivals. With Tommy Fury reportedly training alongside UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, there’s speculation that Paul and Fury could meet again—this time in the cage.
Paul’s Legacy Hinges on Tyson, Canelo, and MMA
Before these future fights can take place, Paul must first defeat Mike Tyson in what he’s described as the biggest test of his career. With a record of 10 wins and only one loss to Tommy Fury, Paul is determined to prove that his combat sports journey is no fluke. Both he and Tyson have promised a knockout in their showdown, but it’s Paul who has the most riding on the outcome.
If he can claim victory over Tyson, Paul’s path to fighting Canelo Alvarez and transitioning to MMA becomes more realistic. For now, though, all eyes are on Texas, where Paul and Tyson will face off in front of 75,000 fans.
