Jake Paul long-awaited PFL MMA debut is seemingly no closer to fruition as he focuses on boxing.
YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul signed with UFC rival PFL back in January 2023 as he pursued a new challenge. President of the PFL Donn Davis has confirmed that the wait for his MMA debut is delayed for the foreseeable as the 26-year-old is dedicated to boxing for now.
Despite signing a year ago and some training videos circling of Paul training his BJJ it would appear the wait will continue.
Donn Davis told TalkSport: “He’s doubled down on boxing at the minute, there’s no question about it”
Jake Paul MMA Debut
Controversially Jake Paul is due to fight now-retired boxing legend Mike Tyson on July 20th of this year. 31 years the older Mike Tyson is keen to show that he is still capable. With the punishing career that Tyson endured many believe the age difference is too much to ignore.
Paul on the other hand believes it was too great of an opportunity to ignore and vouches that the boxing veteran still poses a major threat.
“The Problem Child” is now riding a three-fight win streak after taking his first loss at the hands of Tommy Fury last year. The two battled it out to a razor-close points decision in which the judges gave the nod to Fury.
After facing defeat and coming back stronger Paul is focused on bettering himself in the ring before transitioning to the octagon.
Jake Paul’s Mma Future in the Balance
Initially, after signing for PFL it seemed his debut was imminent but with no progress 16 months down the line, MMA fans will have to remain patient. Donn Davis has come forward to reassure fans that it’s not a matter of if but instead when.
“There was a time when he might have done 50/50 of both and right now it looks like he might be 90/10 in favour of boxing over MMA. So his development in MMA is not coming along as quickly as we thought. Will he fight for the PFL? One hundred per cent. Will he move to MMA? One hundred per cent. Is the timing delayed? It is.”
For now, the focus of Paul is on continuing his profitable boxing journey before turning his attention to MMA.
