Jake Paul earned his tenth boxing victory on Saturday night, July 20, 2024, at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. He defeated “The King of Violence,” Mike Perry, via technical knockout (TKO) in the sixth round. After his win, Paul’s confidence was through the roof as he made one of his boldest call-outs yet.
During his post-fight victory speech, Paul challenged Alex Pereira, the current UFC Light Heavyweight champion and former Middleweight titleholder, to a boxing match. He declared, “Alex Pereira. I’m the king of this, I’m the king of this. Come over, we can make it happen, I want you Alex Pereira.”
Boxer Jake Paul Receives FaceTime From UFC Champion Alex Pereira Following Call-Out
Alex Pereira and his manager, Ed Soares, quickly responded to the call-out. They FaceTimed Paul while he was still in the ring. Paul entertained the call for a brief moment before ending the conversation with the UFC champion.
Pereira has shown interest in stepping into the boxing ring. This interest was sparked after Anthony Joshua, one of the top Heavyweight boxers, expressed a desire to see Pereira, also known as “Poatan,” compete in boxing. Pereira is renowned for his striking skills in mixed martial arts (MMA). He is a former K-1 kickboxing champion and has a reputation for knocking out his opponents, making the prospect of him fighting Paul intriguing for fans.
However, it’s common for Paul to call out fighters he is unlikely to face. Unless Pereira somehow exits his UFC contract, which seems unlikely soon, a match between them remains unrealistic. Pereira recently achieved another knockout victory over Jiri Prochazka, solidifying his status in the UFC.
On the other hand, a more realistic match for Paul is against Mike Tyson. Tyson was supposed to fight Paul last night, but health issues forced him to withdraw. The fight has been rescheduled for November 15, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. That is, assuming Tyson, who recently turned 58, is ready and able to make it to the ring.
Paul’s victory over Perry and his subsequent call-out of Pereira have certainly kept the combat sports community buzzing. Fans are left wondering what will come next for “The Problem Child.”
