Former UFC Light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill is eager for a rematch with current champion Alex Pereira. Jamahal Hill was knocked out by Pereira in the first round in their previous encounter at UFC 300. After being hit by a low blow by Hill, Pereira would tell Herb Dean to step back so he could continue fighting. Hill would then be knocked out a few seconds later and was a little thrown off by the restart.
Whether Hill was surprised or not Pereira still left as the champion. Jamahal Hill plans to get the rematch against Pereira. Hill was speaking to The Schmo when he said;
“Honestly, for me, now it’s not even about the gold strap, it’s about getting back to that fight,”
“I want to fight with Alex again, just because of the narrative surrounding it and everything. I know what I was feeling in there, and I know what type of timing it’s really on whenever we step in there again, so I just want to get to that fight.”
Jamahal Hill on Alex Pereira Rematch
As things stand Hill already has another fight booked. The former Light heavyweight champion has signed a contract to fight Khalil Rountree at UFC 303. Hill signed the contract only 3 days after his UFC 300 defeat.
On the other hand, Pereira has expressed an interest in a potential move into the heavyweight division. However, while he may have this interest he has top light heavyweight contenders Jiri Prochazka and Magomed Ankalaev calling him out.
Jamahal Hill is currently not interested in who is next for the champion as long as he is in the conversation. Hill revealed this by saying;
“I don’t care. All I know is that Jamahal ‘Sweet Dreams’ Hill is in his future – for sure,”
“Again, I don’t give a sh*t if we’ve got to do it at 205 or heavyweight: he’s got to see me again. That’s the only fight that I care about.”
