UFC Light Heavyweight contender Jamahal Hill has revealed plans to move up to Heavyweight and take on interim champion Tom Aspinall.
The ex light heavyweight champion has been out with injury since January 2023 and will face Alex Pereira in the main event of UFC 300 to attempt to reclaim the title he vacated. The decision to place the two on the main event of UFC 300 was one that came with lots of controversy and has left some fans very upset. Despite the ‘lack’ of star power in the UFC 300 main event Jamahal Hill is looking to make waves in multiple divisions.
Jamahal Hill Seeks Double Champ Status, Eyes Tom Aspinall Fight
In a recent interview with GiveMeSport Hill discussed the opportunities at heavyweight.
I’m 240 [pounds] right now bro. I’m telling you, bro, I’m a big boy. It’s possible. What the f*** is a power advantage? You can be a thousand times more powerful than me. I hit you first, what does that mean? That’s game. I like that [Aspinall] fight. Tom’s a great fighter. I’d have fun fighting against him.
This becomes increasingly more interesting as Tom Aspinall reportedly turned down a fight at heavyweight with Hill’s UFC 300 opponent, Alex Pereira.
One man who is confident of Hill’s ability is UFC commentator, Joe Rogan.
Future Heavyweight Clash Waiting in The Wings
Jamahal is a one punch knockout striker at light heavyweight for sure, and he’s a big tall dude, and he know movement. He’s fucking dangerous man. Bro he’s fucking dangerous. A lot of people are picking Pereira to run him over which I think is interesting
This isn’t the first time Jamahal Hill has picked out Aspinall as a future opponent, he spoke about his interest in taking on the Englishman after his UFC 295 performance.
I think Tom [Aspinall] is a stud, I think Tom [Aspinall] is like the new prototype of what heavyweights are. I definitely wanna do my thing at 205 and then go up and eventually see him too. So, Tom, get ready for me baby, someday.
