Last Saturday at UFC 283, the UFC Light heavyweight division finally crowned a new champion after a bit of turmoil back in December last year after Jiri Prochazka vacated the belt due to injury. In the immediate aftermath of Jamahal Hill’s victory over Glover Teixeira, Prochazka congratulated Hill on his win and then immediately warned Hill of his return to the octagon.
In a Interview With TMZ, Jamahal Hill Had This to Say Following His Win Over Glover Teixeira
“100% [Prochazka]. I’m hoping he can be back by July, August and we can get a fight set up ’cause that’s the one I’ve wanted for a long time,” Hill told TMZ after his victory last saturday.

Wasn’t Prochazka the Champion a Few Months Ago?
The former champion is more than deserving of an immediate title shot against Hill after vacating his belt in December due to “the worst shoulder injury in UFC history” stated Dana White. His rematch with Glover Teixeira being cancelled as well as Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev fighting for the belt instead and ending in a draw. That draw of course leaves a very sour taste in a lot of people’s mouthes including the UFC. Forcing the UFC’s hand to make yet another title fight in Brazil which takes us to now with Hill being the champion.
Hill the goes on to add in his interview with TMZ…
“That’s the fight that they would like to have happen. So, obviously, when he’s ready. I want him to heal up, I don’t want any excuses whatsoever. Well, there’ll probably still be some. But still, as long as he’s ready to go and he feels healthy, I want us to be able to get that done,”

What If Prochazka Isn’t Ready in Time?
Prochazka has quite the task ahead of him, recovering from “the worst shoulder injury in UFC history” is certainly no small task. What would happen if Prochazka wasnt ready? Prochazka he’ll have to wait and get his shot when he’s ready. For Hill, he’s got no shortage of contenders to fight off. With maybe one more win Ankalaev is more than deserving of another title shot as well as Anthony Smith who was the backup fighter for the main event. Aleksandar Rakic is also coming back from recovery so you could match him up with Ankalaev for a No.1 contender fight or a rematch with Blachowicz after their fight ended prematurely due to injury.
