Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz released a statement following his UFC London decision loss to Carlos Ulberg.
The Polish fighter wasn’t impressed with the judge’s decision.
Jan Blachowicz Releases Statement to Fans After Fight Night Defeat
Following Saturday’s UFC event, Blachowicz suffered a decision loss in London, leaving fans divided.
On one hand, Ulberg had been pushing forward, landing strikes on an inconsistent basis, while the former champion had more significant strikes. Writing on Instagram, Jan Blachowicz said,
“This camp was one of the best I’ve had. I missed this, every part of this game. The welcome and support during fight week #UFCLondon from the whole @ufc team was amazing.
“More controversy on the record, as it turns out, the approach to significant strikes doesn’t align with the actual meaning. I’ll leave the verdict for discussion. What happened in the stands after the announcement, and what’s happening online right now, is pretty telling. I appreciate it, but the verdict is out there, and unfortunately, it will stay on my record. We keep moving forward, going for more. Your support has been huge, and I’ll remember this moment for a long time”
Carlos Ulberg Hopes for Title Opportunity
Whilst Jan Blachowicz is upset with the result, Carlos Ulberg will be impressed with his performance. Others may dispute the result, but he probably did enough to edge the fight. The Kiwi, renowned for his kickboxing style, now looks to cement his newly acquired top 5 ranking in the light heavyweight division.
Ulberg will also be looking to secure a title fight and will be looking to climb the rankings. With champion Magomed Ankalaev set to rematch Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill facing Khalil Rountree, it leaves Jiri Prochazka as the only fighter without a future fight.
